ZFS Dashboard Widget Gives Incorrect Size/Free Space

    XMLWordPrintable

Details

    Description

The new GUI in FreeNAS 11.2 (11.2-U3) seems to be calculating pool size differently (and incorrectly) for the pool health dashboard widget vs. the old GUI in FreeNAS 11.1 and prior.

My FreeNAS system is extremely straightforward, with one boot SSD, and one encrypted mirror (GELI) of two 3TB drives. Whereas all CLI commands (`zpool`, `zfs`) give accurate values for used/free space, the widget seems to be displaying only ~half the storage available against the real value.

Attached output of `zpool list tank` and `zpool upgrade` for the one data pool on the system, as well as a screenshot of the incorrect dashboard widget. Pool version is upgraded to the 11.1-U7 feature flags, only missing features device_removal, obsolete_counts, and zpool_checkpoint, none of which seem like they should in any way impact utilization calculation.

      # zpool list tank

NAME   SIZE  ALLOC   FREE  CKPOINT  EXPANDSZ   FRAG    CAP  DEDUP  HEALTH  ALTROOT

      tank  2.72T  1.84T   902G        -         -    26%    67%  1.00x  ONLINE  /mnt

Some supported features are not enabled on the following pools. Once a

feature is enabled the pool may become incompatible with software

that does not support the feature. See zpool-features(7) for details.
