Description
Configure smart service
Set critical to 20
Set a timer for 2 minutes
Refresh UI nothing happens
Get the process ID using ps -auwx | grep smartd
Kill the smartd process by issuing kill -9 and the PID
Relaunch smartd with /usr/local/sbin/smartd -n -i 1800 -c /usr/local/etc/smartd.conf -p /var/run/smartd-daemon.pid &
Imeddiatiley temperature alerts will appear in console messages or by cat /var/log/messages
Wait 2 minutes
Refresh UI if necessary and alerts will appear
After talking with William Grzybowski this seems like a bug because the service should not require a restart to apply this setting. If this is incorrect we just need to know to rewrite our SMART test case for alerts services, and it may make sense to warn in the UI somehow.
