SMBD and WINBINND won't start

      Description

      System starts SMB is not turned on. Click to start SMB gui shows it start. click to another page and come back SMB is off again. service samba_server start shows everything start but:
      service samba_server status
      nmbd is running as pid 3407.
      smbd is not running.
      winbindd is not running.

      any ideas? SMB did work previously.
