SED disks not unlocking at boot

Description

The dashboard and this debug page indicates that I have 94 GiB of RAM available, despite the box having 192GB installed.

  1. cat /var/run/dmesg.boot | grep memory
    real memory = 206158430208 (196608 MB)
    avail memory = 98539417600 (93974 MB)

NOTE: I have two identical boxes and both show the same amount of RAM, 94 GiB out of 192 GiB. Both boxes have a tendency to lock up and wondered if there was an issue with my FreeNAS builds.

Hi ,

This seems to have sorted itself after upgrading to U4. Interesting that the hotfix didn't work though. Perhaps I did something wrong when applying it.

In any case, it all seems OK now.

Sorry I have been very busy with other things.

ATA Security is not used as your disks seems to be SED TCG OPAL.

What is supposed to happen here is that on cold boot your disks are locked and it gets unlocked by middleware before pools are imported.

Since the pool is not imported at boot and disks remain locked it seems something is going wrong at boot time.

Sorry for hassling you, but I would like to test this out on one of my other boxes and just wanted to make sure the process above is correct.

Do you have any other suggestions I can try?

Any chance we can pick this up again?

I have another machine I can test this on, but can I just confirm that the following is the correct procedure?

1. Set global password in System -> Advanced. Should the ATA Security user be 'user' or 'master' here?
2. Run 'sedhelper setup ${password}' in the terminal?
