Upgrading from 11.3-U3.2 freenas to 12.0 True as fails -

Description

Hi there, so as the title says I've upgraded from freenad 11.3-U3.2 to TrueNas however I'm getting an error mounting my boot drive, with the system stating the error(s) in the picture below.

Many thanks

Interesting. I find myself in the same exact boat right this moment. Same screens and errors. I do not see a GPT error, but I'll continue to poke around and see. My boot drive is SSD and not USB though so I'm not really sure how to proceed.

All of the drives seem to show up fine in BIOS. It does appear that TrueNAS is unable to find the right disk where freenas-boot is located though.

OP, curious if you got your issues resolved?

The CAM messages mean that some of your storage devices haven't completed the probe process yet.  For correctly operating devices it should not take long.  But I also see on your screenshots messages about secondary GPT table being corrupt, that likely mean your USB devices don't behave at least from some perspectives, possibly truncating or corrupting user data area. It may also be the cause of your boot problems.  Please switch from USB to some normal storage.  We already have many thousands of 12.0 deployments, and your report is quite unique as far as I can recall.

Hi ,

Ive tried running that command, however the issue still arrises, also see the new picture attatched showing the error before the SOLARIS: NOTICE, it just repeats Root mount waiting for : CAM.I have tried with and without the additional usb drives - secondary backup. Also note the boot drive is usb3 as i know there were errors in freenas with regards to usb 3 drives. I'm in the progress of setting up truenas on a new usb now.

Many Thanks

Ryan

Edit: After trying an additional usb with a fresh install the USB still wont boot to the install of TrueNAS displaying the Root mount waiting for: CAM error.

Would it help if you got to the loader prompt and run there `set kern.cam.boot_delay="30000"` and then `boot`?  It may be that your USB stick is not detected in time.

Alternatively, have you tried fresh installation on the same model of USB stick (if you have) and the same system?  Guessing it is some sort of incompatibility in boot pool.

Also when hitting enter the system enters a kernel panic seen in the second picture.

Furthermore, my specs are as follows and a8 7600, Asus a88xm-a bios version 3001, 2x1tb red Nas drives and 16gb Kingston flash usb drive.

Many thanks again

Ryan
