I received an alert on 4/20, 8:26 AM Eastern time, that nmbd had created a core dump. During this event, my Windows shares displayed with a red X momentarily, and then recovered to nominal status.

Samuel, nmbd crashed because kevent() had some undocumented / unexpected behavior in an edge case. The reference PR will address this edge case. Basically, netbios nameserver died an honorable death so that future nmbd processes may live happier lives.
