Can we consider alerting when the number of snapshots is high enough to affect performance?

In an extreme case, we had a customer who wasn't expiring snapshots for a number of days while taking snapshots at a very aggressive rate. When the issue fixing the expiry was fixed, they suddenly had a huge performance drop when a bunch of snapshots expired.
