AMD Ryzen Freezes when running 11.3RC1

Cannot Reproduce

Description

Hi,
As already reported here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/freenas/comments/ek2jqs/frequent_freezes_on_113_rc1/

I'm having frequent freezes running 11.3RC1 but not on 11.2U7.

System specs TLDR:
Ryzen 1200
16GB DDR4 (known good, tested and used) ram
Intel NIC (almost new, addon card)
6 drives in 3 mirrors

Freezes do not give output on screen, it's just a hard lock: No IO is possible on keyboard (not even numlock toggle) and no IO lights of disks are active.

In this example freeze, the freeze happened around 0:35-0:38 on 01 January 2020

If usefull i'm willing to send full system images and other debug info thats not included in the debug output.

Added is a screenshot when it froze. The last line (iscsi disconnect warning) was about 30 minutes earlier (when said PC shut down.)

Without any better ideas I'd propose people to start experimenting (not in production so far) with TrueNAS 12.0, which is now in BETA stage.

Add me to the list of people experiencing this.

Just upgraded to 11.3 and got my first freeze ever.

Ryzen 3 from 2018. Have set rc.conf as suggested.

Haven't found where to set voltage to typical on my motherboard.

Ssd as a boot disk. Mechanical data disk.

On some other thread some user reported that disabling C-states in BIOS fixed the hangs for him.  Considering that kernel already disables deeper C-states on that system, leaving only HLT/C1, I suppose it must be C1E state, managed by BIOS itself.  I would propose to try to disable some of those.

I can confirm this issue with the exact same processor, running on FreeNAS-11.3-U1. Though I can't rule out faulty hardware on my Ryzen 1200, as it has onboard ECC errors and has since been RMA'd, I'm suspecting this same issue may exist on Ryzen 2600 though I've only had a single crash after a week of uptime on it.

The symptoms are exactly as reported, about four to six hours of uptime and the system completely hangs. Keyboard & other USB devices are completely unresponsive, no access over ethernet, no crash logs or output to console. I've added the microcode_update_enable="NO" to tunables and will see if that changes anything. After upgrading to a Ryzen 2600 there was a crash this morning, but otherwise it is stable. There is a BIOS update available but ASRock recommends against updating unless I have a Matisse / Renoir processor.

I've merged new CPU microcode version for upcoming 11.3-U1 release in few weeks. We are also thinking about providing some test images sooner.
