UPS Problems. TrippLite SMART1500LCDT

Description

Freenas 11.2 U4

Trip pLite SMART1500LCDT is supported in the verions of NUT used in freenas. However freenas dropdown doesn't include this ups model. Other models do not work, as they have a different driver version. Freenas can see the UPS and ID's it when it's plugged in, however upsc responds that "connection refused'.

upsc -l and upsc (ups) also both respond connecion refused.

I apologize if I'm missing something here, but I am also using a SMART1500LCDT with FreeNAS. I selected "Tripp Lite ups 3 SMART1500LCD USB (protocol 2009) (usbhid-ups)" as the device and then tested by cutting power. The box worked as expected for me, it waited 60 seconds and then shut down. If I can help with testing at all, please let me know.

Dan: leave a comment on this ticket if you get time to try Waqar's suggestions and we'll investigate further.

Also trying the running driver debug command repetitively might help too, say 5-10 times ? I have seen that in a thread, you can set "maxretry" option as an auxiliary parameter which can take care of this automatically. A value for 5-10 would be nice for this.

To be clear, if you set "maxretry", you wouldn't need to run the command again.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

Yes i did and it seems that fix is no longer working as you tried before in our earlier conversation ; ) I wanted to confirm did you try setting the port as well as directed in the post ? ( it should be okay without that too but just in case ).

As i mentioned earlier in my comments, manually adding that line has no effect what so ever, it just sets the driver to usbhid-ups which we can set by selecting another one of the models as well. Where it differs is the auxiliary parameters the user explicitly provided and they work in your FN version as well. So something likely changed upstream as we are not doing anything different when we compare that post and our current scenario.

Also this time could you please post the output of

as well ? I want to be sure the auxiliary parameters are set as they should be.

Meanwhile i'll look up libusb here but i think that's a dead end as well ( will make sure though ).

To conclude, we set the auxiliary parameters as described in the post and then run the commands i posted in my earlier comment and finally the last one i wrote right now.

Also you didn't mention, did the thread i shared help ?

I am sorry i can't try this locally as i don't have your UPS model to try this with.
