Shadow copies work as intended in 12.0. Not to be fixed in 11.3 branch.

Wow! good catch! Indeed drag and drop is working. I'm impress. I'll let you and your team decide for the next actions and feel free to ask me for more testing in case you need.

Never mind. I was able to reproduce on 11.3. Issue is not present in 12.0. There are significant changes in Samba's VFS between 12.0 and 11.3 and so backporting shadow_copy_zfs is non-trivial. May not hit U5 deadline.
Issue affects opening of files in snapshot directory. Files can still be copied to desktop and then opened as workaround.

[2020/08/18 14:59:20.435040, 1] ../../source3/smbd/service.c:348(create_connection_session_info)
create_connection_session_info: guest user (from session setup) not permitted to access this share (Archive)

Can you remove auxiliary parameter and in test machine with little or no traffic to it, set log level to DEBUG for the SMB service and reproduce the issue?

Adding a debug from another computer FreeNAS 11.3U4
I added the samba aux parameters level =1,shadowzfs:5 and I tried to open a word document called test.docx
The new debug file is attached
I really like the ZFS snapshots on my SMB shares. It allows users to easily restore their files by themselves when the files get lost or screwed up.
It seems that it's no longer possible to use the windows features "previous version" since FreeNAS 11.3
It's possible to see all the previous version from the snapshots.
But, when I click on any of those versions and try to open it, I get this error message
It seems to do that only for MS Word and MS Excel and in fact in files from the MS Office suite.
I tried it with Office 2016 and Office 2019 with the latests patches and updates on the latest windows 10 version 2004.
I am able to browse the snapshot folder by using \\servername\Sharename@GMT-date.of.day-time.of.day format. I can see the files there but, it's still not possible to open it.
I tried to add the location in the Office trusted location and it's still not working.
Now, here is the interesting part. I am able to use the previous version with the exact same Office and Windows machine but, from FreeNAS 11.2.
It's very strange as like I mentioned, it's possible to restore pdf, jpg, png, txt from a FreeNAS 11.3. It really seems that Office screwed up something, but why would it work with 11.2?
I will downgrade and rebuild to 11.2, but before doing that I wanted to know if other people experience that and/or if someone has an idea where to start looking to fix this?
First time poster here, let me know if you need more info.
Thanks for your help
