[Scale RC1-1]Creating bridge with WAN port as a member isn't working

Description

I'm trying to create a bridge with WAN as a member, but as soon as I reboot the gui becomes unreachable.

I did try to move the IP to the bridge but that made the gui unreachable even during test phase.

According to a user on the forum this used to work during the beta but not anymore. https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/cant-add-bridge-to-wan-port.96602/

thanks and sorry for the late response back from me on the subject but i'w been a bit busy

anyway, i'w tried again to reproduce the scenario in a VM, this time i made sure to set a gateway before adding the bridge. i can create the bridge without a problem, but as soon as i set the WAN interface as the parrent interface in the bridge and test the settings the GUI becomes unresponseive.

i did run "network interface checkin" and rebooted.

couldnt really copy/paste from the virtualbox, but running "Network configuration config" show ipv4gateway as 192.168.1.1 (attached a screenshot)

thanks for your ticket. Based on what you're describing, you must have a default gateway set first. If you're trying to access the webUI from a client that isn't on the same layer2 subnet as the TrueNAS and there is no default gateway set, then you will lose access to the webUI. If you have set the default gateway and then configure any interfaces first, the default gateway is wiped out which would explain the loss of access to the webUI.

Debug from the actual server in the live environment

I'w spent some more time on this, i'w set up the "real server" the way i wanted to.

one public ip on the NIC, passing one extra puvlic IP to a opnsense VM, set up br0 as a lan interface from opnsense.

Everything worked fine until rebooted, the VM with opnsense is still reachable and truenas is reachable via ssh through the opnsense lan. but the gui is unreachable after the reboot.

This debug file contains some info i dont wantto display publicly so i'm adding it to the provate section.

sorry for the slow response, i managed to replicate the problem in a VM and save a debug.

I did find a solution though while running in a WM. it seems that if i enable promiscuous in virtual box it's actually possible to create a bridge and move the IP there.

Behaves as Intended
