Meaningful news from the GitLab front today: come GitLab 15.0 next week, it should become trivial for most users to deploy GitLab Agent as a Helm chart — and have that just automatically keep a SCALE namespace in sync with a git repository.
It would be delightful to be able to say (maybe even on day one) that an official SCALE app now provides that namespace/linkage. For separate teams, separate environments, and Auto-DevOps.

TrueNAS SCALE could truly shine as an [as THE] on-prem GitOps platform, whether for enterprise or homelab.
Since the term GitOps doesn't currently appear in Jira searches at all, this suggestion is intended to ensure that it's at least on the radar as an important customer use case.
GitOps: "What You Need To Know"
I personally head only a small, unruly team and am focused on GitLab for its pull request based deployment workflow. But the general need for truly declarative, revision-controlled deployment is recognized well beyond GitLab. The simplest, cleanest solution would naturally address many such ecosystems. It comes down to audited static manifests.
I suspect that the cleanest path to this goal will involve hosting multiple clusters (), in the same vein as multiple jails or VMs. But whatever the technical approach taken: sooner rather than later it'll be important to have a compelling answer to "what about GitOps" to stake due claim as a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platform.
